REFLECTIONS
Goodbye 2012 and although we are into the first week of the new year I am taking time to reflect on 2012
The year got off to a good start in January by me having to pay out over £400.00 for three new seat belts for the back seat of my car. When it was revealed during the M.O.T. test that our dachshund Lincoln had chewed all three seat belts. A costly start to the new year, but I still love him to bits!
The year consisted of football, work, music, etc and all in all it was an OK year for me.
Football wise my team Leicester City continued to frustrate by looking like title challengers in the championship but then fading away! but we managed a decent cup run and we even dreamt of Wembley at one point, until we drew Chelsea in the 6th round of the F.A. cup at Stamford Bridge and after losing 5-2 our dreams were shattered. We did get to see Wembley though as we were making our way back home to Leicestershire!
Despite missing out on a Wembley appearance and failing to make the play offs, it wasn't all bad, and at away games I met some of my friends from twitter and facebook for the first time, including Sharon, Jo Jo, Kimmy, Kathy, Den and Nigel who I see regular in the Keith Weller lounge.
Music as always played a big part of my life in 2012 and added to the list of new bands I have seen were James Morrison, The Killers and Coldplay while the year ended by another superb show at The De Montfort Hall by The Bootleg Beatles. And it was another good summer at conkers and the pokey hole, who entertained us with some more first class tribute bands that culminated with another excellent concert by Talon.
On the holiday front we have always enjoyed going abroad twice a year, but since the arrival of Lincoln we now holiday in West Wales in cottages. I don't really mind, because of all the countries I have visited over the years West Wales and Cardigan Bay is probably my favourite place on the planet! And we were lucky with the weather, in our three summer visits we returned with a tan each time.
In September we had a new addition to the family and another dachshund arrived. Richmond, a miniature and a little brother for Lincoln! It took a few days for Lincoln to accept him but now they are inseparable, Bless em!
At the cinema some good films were on offer and the experience was heightened for us by the opening of a new cinema at Swadlincote. 2013 looks to be just as exiting with some good movies on the way.
When I am not at work. Spying for Tamworth Council! my activities as mentioned include walking the two dogs, going to the cinema, reading and watching Leicester City and of course I am still trying to learn to play the ukulele, badly!
2013 I hope will be another decent year and hopefully not as wet as 2012 although it hasn't started to well for me as I have had to visit the doctor with an infected toe and the same day I reversed the skoda into a wheelie bin and scratched the paintwork! but on a lighter note I did win £25.00 in the January premium bond draw; Happy days and a Happy New Year
